The KGO Adult Literacy Program began in July 2013 from the United Way Resident Action Grant (RAG); a grant that provides initial seed money for resident-led projects. Based on the reality that over 50% of adults in the Kingston-Galloway-Orton Park (KGO) community struggle with basic literacy, the KGO Adult Literacy Program began as a call to action in addressing this priority in the community.
When the program began as a 10-week pilot, our first home was at Morningside Library. In January 2014, the program moved to Eastview Public School with a 12-week program, ending in April 2014 and since September 2014, the KGO Adult Literacy Program has called Progress Church its home.
