Our Program at a Glance

At the KGO Adult Literacy Program, we offer free learner-centred programming in a class setting as well as one-to-one tutoring to support learners at different levels of literacy. In collaboration with several community organizations and partners, we host guest facilitators and offers special workshops such as Voting and Literacy and Expressive Writing Workshops.

We are always accepting new learners and we are committed to supporting adult learners in achieving their learning goals in a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.

Join this program:

  • To be able to read the newspaper, books, magazines, webpages, health information, etc. more easily and with a better understanding
  • To be able to understand and complete government forms
  • To be able to write letters, stories and improve your spelling
  • To be able to use math and problem solve in everyday life (i.e. understanding your bills or tax information)
  • To be able to read maps or street signs
  • To be able to improve and use your math skills in your job (i.e. calculate change and measure)
  • To improve your math skills to shop, bank and learn ways to save money
  • To be able to help your child/children and grandchild/grandchildren with their homework
  • To upgrade your reading, writing and math skills to enter an Academeic and Career Entrance (ACE) program
  • To advocate for oneself at home or within the wider community
  • To increase your overall confidence/self-esteem and learn amongst your peers
